What is the tax-free limit for women and people over 65?

For assessment year 2026-27 the tax-free income limit for a woman taxpayer or a taxpayer aged 65 or over is ৳4,50,000, against ৳4,00,000 for a general taxpayer.

How it applies

• No tax is due on taxable income up to the limit.
• Income above the limit is taxed in steps, and the steps move up with the limit.
• Once income is above the limit, the minimum tax (৳5,000) can apply, even when the rebate brings the tax to zero.
